(2013) Oculus

Being personally scared by a movie can often times make you overlook certain flaws that caused another person to not enjoy a film at all. Much like people view other people, reviews are usually about specific attractions versus an overall determination of beauty. For a films that take a certain level of risk, the general consensus tends to be based off the former.

I’m really just trying to justify the plethora of bad reviews for Oculus because it scared me and I enjoyed the hell out of it. It was like 1408 mixed with Coherence. I felt personally trapped in this universe Mike Flanagan created and the sense of dread was all psychological.

Put your fucking phone down and allow yourself to be sucked into this one, it just might reward you with some genuine scares.
