I truthfully went into this movie thinking it would just be another entry in the slasher genre but it turned out be a fairly thoughtful mystery style horror.
The Christmas setting works nicely here, there’s a nice contrast between the eerily tame sorority house and the rising chaos throughout the film. What’s really the only notable thing to mention about this movie though, at least to me, is the killer himself is unique. This isn’t a bloodbath and there’s nothing really over methodical about the nature of his killings. He seems like more of your average psychopath with plenty of overflow of emotion and rage. His voice on the phone taunting his victims is admittedly a bit goofy at first but the more I got into the movie the more I bought into it.
I can’t say this movie wow’d me or anything but it was a bit better than expected. There’s a nice surprise ending that remains partially ambiguous as to what exactly happened, which doesn’t always work but it did here.
