(2000) Shadow of the Vampire

William Dafoe is both brilliant and goofy as Count Orlaf. I mean, Count Orlaf in the original Noferatu is kind of goofy I suppose from being dated.

The movie follows the making of Nosferatu with Dafoe possibly being a real vampire in the film or just a really dedicated actor. It’s kind of an intelligent (I guess) riff on method acting and just filmmaking in general. It’s not David Lynch like expertise but it has its own identity.

This is a good movie to nerd out on if you’re a fan of hidden extras/references and shit like that. I didn’t find it that enjoyable to watch personally but I recognize it’s a good film, just not a great one.
