(2004) Calvaire

Calvaire is incredibly gritty and unsettling in both its production and story. It just has a really unique voice and and a surprising amount of depth.

It’s really tough to talk about both due to the fact that I’m very hungover and explaining anything beyond the basic premise would spoil it. Tons of very cohesive strong performances give life to this unsettling atmospheric horror.

The ending is strong and thought provoking. It’s really a film about loneliness and humanity. I strongly suggest checking this one out, it’s a great movie to spark some interesting discussion.
