Wow, alright. Well I will say that the Eric Clapton soundtrack was pure baby making music, as expected. This movie was…I don’t even know, let me ramble for a bit then I’ll decide.
I think the film starts fairly strong with the weak aspects being easy to forgive, but more apparent. I’m talking about little things such as quirky dialogue which Christopher Walken always makes kind of weird anyways. However, he’s a delight to me no matter what, even with a bad script, he manages breaths life into it.
Honestly, to put it bluntly, this movie is fucking ridiculous and not in a great way. They clean up some of the bullshit in one final fantastically shitty but simultaneously intriguing scene but in the end, there’s just too many fingers dipping into the pot. It might be based off a “real” alien encounter account but if that’s the case, then it’s a fairly stupid story to begin with.
I’d file this in the b-movie category. It’s somewhere between incredibly shitty and alright. It offers some interesting ideas but never really follows through with them. It ends up feeling sort of muddled and unsatisfying. I’m interested in hearing from anyone else that’s seen this one.
