(1987) Nekromantik

This is kind of a tough movie to review because I wan’t to rip it apart for it’s pointless intense gruesome content because the entire film is a statement of being desensitized from that all. Either way, this is truly a beacon for film douchebags. Does it have some merit? Yeah, maybe. I’m not ignorant, I get it. I just don’t think it even executed its simple message all that well.

Even in this instance, if the object was simply to shock (which I believe it was to some degree), it wasn’t successful for me in crucial moments. Maybe if you showed this to PETA or some hippies from my liberal college but the average horror fan isn’t going to get all twisted up about an animal being semi-humanely slaughtered.

I did enjoy the effects, the original corpse looked pretty great and the rest of the effects throughout the movie didn’t remain realistic but were so over the top that I have to commend them.

It’s pretty shitty. It’s pretty Gabe from The Office-y. The ending is satisfying though, a little. By the end I mean just the last shot. I’m not totally convinced this is shit but I’m pretty sure this is shit.
