(2016) Split

I have actual chills just now; it’s only been seconds after the credits rolled, just trying to digest this. This film should shut down any doubts, M. Night is back.

James McAvoy’s performance was unreal. I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything other than his young Charles Xavier roles but he needs to tackle some more ambitious project ASAP.

All around, this is the thanksgiving meal of horrors. It’s just so well balanced, well paced and easy to eat up. M. Night showed, most importantly, a clear vision and picked subject matter that was possible to execute well. That’s important because as goofy as The Happening is, that to me, is him making a movie on a whim, working off some random idea that popped into his head at 4am.

Split is a thrilling, well-rounded horror film that should impress both casual filmgoers and horror nerds as well as satisfy heavy M. Night critics.
