How did they possibly make a movie about giant CGI trolls not shitty? Trollhunter fucking rules. It brushes off its technical limitations with light humor and manages to craft tense moments through the entirety of it’s well paced running time.
There were two outstanding features in this film that I feel the need to mention and the first in the troll hunter himself. Otto Jespersen’s acting and character in general are subtle but surprisingly complex.
The second thing this film has going for it is the setting. Norway’s beauty is fucking majestic. The trees and mountains were absolutely paramount in making the entire film feel immersive.
All complicated explanations aside, it’s actually a fairly straightforward movie. It’s on Netflix so go and check it out, it’s a ton of fun.
